I met Jarita on Christian Mingle in a chat room in November 2012. At first, we kept the conversation in the open room, but soon we were messaging each other. It was during those times that I really started to see what a special woman she is and so after chatting, we exchanged contact information. In all honesty, I didn’t expect to hear from her, but much to my surprise, I did!
During one of the many conversations we had, I told Jarita how the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays were hard for me. On Thanksgiving Day, she sent me a picture of her having Thanksgiving lunch. I was blown away that she included me and I knew from that gesture that she was someone who I wanted to get to know more seriously.
A couple of days after Thanksgiving, we connected through video chat and later spent hours talking and getting to know each other on a spiritual level. The more nights that I spent talking with her, the more I started to realize that I was falling in love with her.
The major problem we faced was the distance. I lived in Minnesota and she lived in Tennessee, but we both felt that God had put us together and it would be God that would allow us to see one another. Around the first week of December, we were talking about plans of getting together in person. I made a joke about how nice it would be to show up on her door step on Christmas Day. We both knew that due to finances, it wasn’t possible.
However, that following week, I was given a Christmas bonus check and I immediately thought of Tennessee! With help from Jarita and my business partner, I was able to find a plane ticket and book a flight from December 19-January 3 to Tennessee where I would get to meet Jarita, her friends, and her family! God had made it possible for us to spend Christmas morning together after all!
Before I left for Tennessee, I knew in my heart that I was in love with Jarita and wanted her to be my wife. So, I bought a ring and planned on proposing! On December 22, in front of her church class, I got on my knee and asked her to marry me. No one, including her, knew what my plan was. Not only did her closest friend get to be part of this, but her mother was there, too! It was one of the proudest moments of my life and I feel like God had answered my prayers by sending Jarita to me.
We have set a wedding date for September 22, 2013. I plan on moving down to Tennessee in the very near future because my heart belongs down there with her.
What makes our story unique is that a couple of weeks before Jarita and I signed up for Christian Mingle, her mom prayed to God asking that He would send a spiritual man into her life. Not only did she ask for that, but she also put a time limit on her request. She asked God to make it happen before Christmas!
Jarita and I are excited about the future that God has planned for us. It is because of His love and grace, the prayer of one person, and Christian Mingle that we have found one another! For years I was missing something in my life. Now I know what that was. Thank you, Christian Mingle, for your website, which has changed two lives!
