How To Recognize Your True Soulmate

In a fantasy world, your soulmate is typically someone who is the most attractive person you’ve ever seen. They are successful in business and have no financial baggage whatsoever. They make you laugh, they make you think critically and they always, always make you feel fantastic! However, in reality, your true soulmate may not be the hottest, the richest or the smartest person you’ve ever met. In fact, they may not even come close. However, your soulmate should be someone who cares about your soul – and in turn, with God’s help, is able to make you feel fantastic on a daily basis!

Your True Soulmate Cares About Your Soul

What do we mean when we say, “cares about your soul”? We mean that the best relationships involve two people who prioritize each others’ faith and growth. We mean that your mate cannot truly be your “soul mate” unless they truly care about your actual soul. If your mate is your true soulmate, then they will help you to grow and deepen in your relationship with Christ, all while doing the same for themselves.

Marriage is the greatest partnership any of us will ever undertake because this partnership requires us to give up any notions of being on our own (or only worrying about ourselves), and instead asks us to focus on ourselves as part of a committed relationship with two people. “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh. So they are no longer two, but one flesh” (Mark 10:7-8).

Growing Together In Faith

As you prepare to grow deeper in a relationship with your current partner, ask yourself how you can be a strong and true soulmate for that person. One of the easiest ways for a couple to care for each other’s souls is to pray together on a regular basis. In fact, as this act becomes habit, it will lay a whole new foundation for spiritual intimacy in your relationship.

Start by kneeling together, holding each other’s hands and giving thanks for all that you are grateful for in your lives. Pray that God will give you the strength and courage to lift your hearts to the Lord, and to lift each other’s hearts when it’s needed. Ask God to guide you as a couple on your Christian Walk. And, request forgiveness when you’ve been hurtful to each other in a heated argument. Not only are you strengthening your relationship with each other, but you are strengthening your relationship with God as well.

How To Care For Each Other’s Souls

Praying together is not the only way for soul mates to care for each other’s souls though. You can support your true soulmate on your Walk with God by doing any of the following:

•    Asking each other to attend church
•    Joining a church choir
•    Signing up for a couple’s Bible Study
•    Attending Christian couples retreats
•    Reading Daily Devotionals together
•    Volunteering with each other on a regular basis

When two people care enough about each other to support the spiritual growth of each other’s souls, they are truly soulmates. Praying together, reading His Word together and praising God together will all result in the same soul-stirring result: greater spiritual intimacy in your lives!
