Maresa and I met on January 24, 2013. I was sitting alone in my apartment when I came across Maresa’s profile on Christian Mingle. As I looked through her pictures, there was just something about her smile that captured my attention. Something told me, “Don’t let this girl go.” So I didn’t. I sent her a smile. Four hours later, she sent me one back. Maresa says my dimples and charismatic profile caught her interest. Soon after our “smile exchange,” we emailed each other, and then set up an “instant messaging date.”
After that, we both knew there was something special there. We moved to texting and talking on the phone, before going on our first date about one week later on February 3, 2013. It was Super Bowl Sunday and my birthday. She was surprised that I wanted to go on a date to celebrate my birthday, but there was no one else in the world I wanted to spend my birthday with; we had a wonderful time on our first date in downtown Philadelphia getting to know each other.
We ate at a tiny dive bar sushi restaurant, went to the local Aquarium, and enjoyed drinks at a pub while watching the game. Thankfully the game lasted longer than it should have because of a power outage. I held her in my arms and didn’t want to let her go. We fell for each other during the game and were so into the moment that we never paid attention to who won!
We fell madly in love with each other during that first week after our first date, and our relationship has been going stronger ever since. A month into our relationship, I knew that I loved Maresa and that she loved me back. Over the next ten months, we began planning our lives together and growing in our love. I became excited about asking this “Proverbs 31” woman to be my wife.
On Christmas morning, while visiting with Maresa’s family, with snow on the ground outside and the sun shining across Maresa’s face, I got down on one knee and asked the most wonderful woman in the world to marry me. I was a nervous wreck, but thank God she said yes!
We look forward to our destination wedding in the Dominican Republic on November 14, 2014, with family and friends! We are crazy about each other and we thank God for His hand in our lives, and in our relationship. We have no doubt that he has blessed us, and that he used Christian Mingle to help us find each other!

Our Advice to Other Christian Mingle Members
We took the first few days online getting to know each other over email and instant messaging, before moving to text messaging and talking on the phone, prior to meeting in-person. Although the first date was awkward at first (you have to manage expectations), we had a good time developing our friendship throughout the date and having fun with one another. The fact that we felt romance on the first date was a big deal! We knew after the first date that it could lead to something more serious.
