Jennifer & Brian: "I knew he was the one I would be with for the rest of my life."

On Christmas Eve 2012, Brian’s uncle Dave began asking him some strange questions about his eye color, height, favorite things, etc. Unknown to Brian, Dave was filling out his online dating profile on Christian Mingle. At that time, he didn’t subscribe to the website, though thought more about it over the coming days and signed up December 28th.

I was urged by co-workers to try online dating for more than 6 months. Reluctantly, I signed up on January 5th. Shortly after signing up, I received several emails but only responded to one I received on January 7th from a sincere-sounding guy who made pizza boxes. The online conversations via email grew over the next 72 hours and Brian asked for my number and then asked me out to dinner. Though skeptical at the thought of meeting someone online, I really felt as though I’d known Brian for years just from talking to him.

We decided to meet in Sarasota at a place on the water that neither of us had ever been to. I had to work the day of our first date and therefore was running a few minutes late. Brian was already seated upstairs at a table overlooking the marina when I arrived. I got to the top of the stairs and made it just around the hostess stand when I saw him for the first time. He was sitting there at the table, looking up something on his phone.

I stopped and I knew he was the one I would be with for the rest of my life.

I stood there staring at him for a few seconds, taking it in, and took a deep breath. I said to myself, “I’m done… that’s him.” I then walked up to him and said, “Hi!”

When I walked up, Brian felt something he had never felt before and knew from the moment he laid eyes on me that this was different. His first thought was “Wow” and he knew I was the girl he was going to marry.

After our introduction, we sat down and ordered the exact same dinner and the conversation never stopped. After dinner, we walked on the beach, stared at the stars, talked for hours and began the rest of our lives together. The next day, Brian called his mom and told her he met the girl he was going to marry. Our lives have not been the same since January 12, 2013—the first day we met!
