Ciara and Darrick didn’t let some unruly ducks spoil their first date! After they each fully put their trust in God’s plan, they found each other on Christian Mingle, and are now engaged to be married. How did you meet? What was your first date like? Tell us all the details!
Like many, they were both nervously excited for their first date together. Darrick even went the day before to plan everything out exactly! The date started with Darrick handing Ciara a rose, the first of many. They ordered their coffee and went on a walk to a nearby lake. The date took a turn, a funny turn, when they were almost attacked by some ducks. But Darrick came to Ciara’s rescue and got rid of them. They sat on a bench overlooking the lake and talked non-stop for 5 hours, “It was like we had known each other forever”.
Describe the moment you knew it was true love!
Darrick will tell you for him, he knew while they were on the first date that Ciara was going to be the woman he married. He even went home that night and told his family about every single second of the date and told his mom that he was going to marry her. For Ciara, it was about 1 1/2-2 weeks after they started dating before she realized that this was it for her.
Darrick was getting ready for his RMA exam and Ciara brought over his favorite order from Starbucks (she remembered from the first date). They sat on his front porch swing and prayed for wisdom, guidance, no nervousness, and more for Darrick while he took his exam. As soon as they finished praying, she looked up at Darrick and had this feeling that she had never had before. She knew right then that Darrick was it for her, she had met the man God had all along for her.
What advice would you give other Christian Mingle members?
“Don’t give up and trust God entirely! Sometimes it can be discouraging when a potential relationship doesn’t work out but God’s got a plan.”
It’s funny, both Darrick and Ciara became fed up with Christian Mingle because no one they talked to would ever work out. It wasn’t until they both sat down, prayed, and gave it all up to God that they found each other. Funnily enough, they found each other exactly one day after they both gave everything to God individually.
“Sometimes it’s hard to fully trust God and not lean on yourself but we promise you, it’s worth it. God’s plan for your life will only come into fruition once you fully give it all to Him.”
