Shima & Isaac: "Our friendship grew into love!"

Shima & Isaac - CM 3Isaac was discharged from the Marines after serving for eight years. He was deployed five times, three of which were to Afghanistan. He had moved to Missoula, Montana with a couple of his friends who also discharged. Isaac had been out for roughly a month when we met on June 23, 2013. I lived in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho a couple hours from where he lived.

I had just gotten out of an engagement due to him not being a Christian. I had decided to take a break from relationships but thought it would be interesting to see who was on Christian Mingle, so I signed up. I didn’t pay the monthly fee at first because I wasn’t planning on meeting anyone. I was so discouraged that I would never find anyone. Isaac sent me a message, but I could not read it due to not being an official member. I think it was a day or two later he sent me another email. I was curious and his profile pictures were so handsome. I gave in and paid the monthly fee so I could read his messages.

We exchanged some personal information and phone numbers and set up a time and a place to meet. We decided to meet each other halfway between Missoula and Coeur d’Alene. It was a little shop/diner called Red Light Garage. We were both so nervous when we first met. I introduced myself and shook his hand before we went in. We sat in a booth and ordered some lunch. Isaac and I talked about anything and everything. I have never felt so connected with someone so fast. We talked for at least four hours. The staff was actually just hanging out even though they were closed so we could finish up. He told me about some of the things he experienced in Afghanistan and being in the Marines. I told him about my past and some of my mistakes. And after all of that, he still wanted to get to know me! We left and went back home and continued texting for a while.

Shima & Isaac - CM 2 Isaac would drive two hours to Coeur d’Alene and two hours back to Missoula every Saturday to see me. He was enrolled in college there and I had a full-time job and a life in Idaho, so we were trying to find a way to make things work. We truly liked each other.

Before school started for him, he had decided that he wanted to move to Coeur d’Alene and he applied to NIC. I was surprised and thrilled. I could not believe he was willing to do that for me – for us. He was able to get into NIC and actually find an apartment of his own before he started school. Everything worked out so smoothly, it was definitely God. Our friendship grew into love.

Isaac proposed November 21, 2013 and we got married September 14, 2014. We recently had our baby girl, Penelope. God has truly blessed us! I am so thankful for your website! Without it, I would have never met my soul mate and had my beautiful daughter.
