I tried a couple of online dating sites throughout the years, including Christian Mingle, but never had any luck meeting anyone. In September of 2013, I tried again and signed on to Christian Mingle to check things out. I had been on it for about a week before I got a “wink” from Ben.
I read his profile and thought he was interesting, so I sent a wink back. He then sent me an email, and I decided to become a paid member so I could read it. (I later found out that Ben became a paid member just so he could email me!) We emailed back and forth and texted for about a month before we met in person. We both agreed that we were done with the games people play and were looking for someone that we could possibly spend the rest of our lives with.
I was very nervous, but excited to see Ben and talk to him face to face. We went to dinner and I was so nervous I hardly ate anything! We talked for hours, even after dinner was over, and had a wonderful time! Right before our date was over, Ben told me that he and his mom and brother were going to a hockey game the next day and they had an extra ticket and he asked if I wanted to go. I had never been to a hockey game before and had always wanted to go, AND I knew he was very close to his family (which I love!) and that it would be important to him for me to meet them. I decided to go, and we had a wonderful time! I loved meeting his mom and brother and I also became a HUGE fan of hockey!
On October 22nd, 2013, our third date, we decided to “become official,” and essentially start courting. After about a month of courting, Ben and I had spent a whole Saturday together and that night when we were saying goodnight to each other, it just hit me. I knew that I loved Ben and that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him. I didn’t tell him right away, but soon after that day, he revealed to me that he loved me as well.
On March 22nd, 2014, Ben asked me to marry him and I said, “Yes, of course!” We are to be married on October 11th, 2014. Interestingly, the opening night for the Colorado Avalanche is on our wedding day! We had planned our day way before we found out and had even decided to have a morning wedding! When we found out it was opening day, we decided we wanted to continue the celebration with our families and go to the game that night!
It has been amazing to see how God brought us together and how everything has fallen into place so well! He really does write love stories! I love Ben and I love his family and he loves me and mine! I am so blessed to have such a supportive, amazing, Godly man in my life! I am so looking forward to what God has in store for us! Thank you, Christian Mingle for bringing us together!
