I had been on Christian Mingle for a few months and had met a few people, but it was never the “right one.” I was looking for someone whose faith in Christ was the most important thing in his life, so I was intrigued by Pat’s profile statement that he was looking for someone whose faith was strong or growing.
I reached out to Pat (on what turned out to be his first day on Christian Mingle!) with a short message, and we began corresponding. Within a couple emails I asked him for his “faith story” because I wanted to see if his faith was real before things went any further. I shared a short bit of my story which caused him to open up to me about his faith journey – something he had really never done before with anyone. That opened the floodgates, and we would send long emails getting to know each other. We found that we had so many things in common that it seemed too good to be true. We met a couple weeks later for dinner and talked for hours. Pat says he knew even before he met me that I could very well be that someone special. It took me a little longer to be sure, but I had peace that God was in this from the beginning.
Our relationship was a bit of a whirlwind, but we both are absolutely certain it was the right thing. We met on February 12, 2014. We got engaged on August 2, 2014, and we were married on November 29, 2014. We can’t wait to see what God does in us and through us as a married couple.
