Lynette and Santhosh were married August 26, 2017. Christian Mingle is delighted to have been part of their story, and wish them all the happiness for the future.
How did you meet? What was your first date like? Give us all the details!
I had been a single mom for five years. My boys were watching TV one day and came running upstairs after seeing a commercial saying, “Mom, Mom you should go on Christian Mingle!” My response was, “Yeah, right.” However, when they went away to attend their father’s second marriage, I checked out the site for myself. I created a profile and joined a month later.
After meeting a number of gentleman that did not go beyond the friendship stage, Santhosh had smiled at me in May 2015. Being polite, I thanked him for the smile which then started a chatting conversation back-and-forth. At first, I didn’t think that the relationship could go beyond a friendship, partly because I lived in Canada and he lived in the US. However, our connection was strong and we both valued our friendship. After a couple months, of a lot of contact, Santhosh declared his love for me online. Shortly after, we meet for the first time in Edmonton.
Our first date was a Costco shopping trip. We did a number of things while in the city, other than shopping, and then he visited my community for a week. It was this first meeting that confirmed to me that there was a future in our relationship. However, I was proceeding cautiously and wanted to be sure with God’s peace before I said those lasting three words.
Describe the moment you knew it was true love!
One of the things that really struck me about Santhosh was how he exhibited Christ love in our relationship. It was that kind of love that drew me in, and caused me to fall for him. He saw and knew the real me and yet he loved me and wanted us to blossom into a lasting relationship.
I declared that I loved him right after watching the fireworks above the Golden Gate Bridge.
I had hardly any eyebrows left resulting from the stress of my marriage breakup 5 years earlier. I use to fill them in everyday as part of my routine. One of the first times I knew in my heart that Santhosh could be the one, was when, during our first visit, he desired to colour my eyebrows for me. As he was using the brow pencil to carefully fill in my brows, I actually thought in my head “I love you”. However, he did not actually hear those words from me until our next visit when I visited him in California during New Years. I declared that I loved him right after watching the fireworks above the Golden Gate Bridge.
That summer, he was able to visit with me, my home province and city in St. John’s, Newfoundland, where he met my family and some friends. The following News Year’s was when he proposed to me as the desert plate came out with the words “Will you marry me?” written in chocolate. Fittingly, he arranged for me to have my eyebrows restored with a permanent makeup procedure before our wedding.

We got married in beautiful Banff August 26, 2017, where my sons gave me away. It has been a wonderful journey of ups and downs that has bonded us together in a lasting three corded strand with God interwoven in our story. We are still trying to work out the details of relocation, but are trusting God to complete what He has brought together.
I would like to express my gratitude to Christian Mingle for the opportunity to meet this wonderful man. Given our circumstances and locations, there is simply no other way I would have crossed paths with this Christlike man of God. We know that God used this site, and even my sons’ promotion of it, to bring us together.
What advice would you give other Christian Mingle members?
Trust in the Lord and His plans for your life and relationships. Don’t be afraid to venture out into uncharted waters as long as you are being lead by God’s loving hand.
