Last year, neither Zak nor I was looking to date, but for different reasons we wound up on Christian Mingle. We met there on July of last year. We exchanged various emails and then decided to talk on the phone.
The first night we spoke on the phone, we talked for 11 hours! Even I couldn’t believe it! We continued talking for several days after, before we decided to meet in person. We met for the first time on a Friday night in August. Zak later told me that when he saw me walking towards him he said to himself, “There’s my wife,” and at the same time I was thinking to myself “There’s the man I’m going to marry.”
We spent the whole night walking around the lake and talking. We couldn’t believe how comfortable we felt with each other! When the night came to an end, we prayed together and made a covenant with God. We both chose to be with each other, to love one another, and to place the Lord our Father at the head of our relationship.
I still can’t believe how much we have in common. We both happen to be adopted, we have similar hobbies, dreams, and goals, but most importantly, we are both unwavering in our commitment to the Lord.
A few months after our first date, Zak proposed! We were married on Christmas Day of that very same year-we thought it was a perfect way to honor our Father for all the blessings He had bestowed upon us.
We realize that our love is designed by our Father, and we know our marriage and relationship is going to be a reflection of His love.
