Lorena and Matthew embraced their cultural differences, put their faith in God to be their guide, and celebrated their God centered relationship when they got married on June 10th, 2018. What can you tell us about the wedding?
“Our wedding day was on a beautiful day. We prayed so much for perfect weather days before. Everything went so smooth and as planned. We were so blessed to have a lot of our loved ones involved.”
How did you meet? What was your first date like?
“I lived in Boston, MA and he lived in CT. So, I actually told him to come down to meet me at my house and yes I was living with my parents, so he actually went to meet them that day! Everything happened so fast for us.
A few weeks after talking, he came to meet me. It was on July 3rd, 2016 when Matt drove hours to meet myself and my family for the first time. It was incredibly stressful being that my parents were sort of strict and are very devoted Christians. Moreover, it got a little bit scary and full of different emotions because we were all about to meet a strange person (especially for them).
Fast forwarding, everything went well. He was very respectful and he brought flowers and actually got along very well with my family. After this, we went out to eat at Cheesecake Factory and had our first kiss at a beautiful park nearby. Lastly, that same day in the park he asked me to be his girlfriend :-).”
Describe the moment you knew it was true love!
“We knew it was true love and God’s will because we both are devoted Christians and we knew exactly what we wanted. Shared a lot of the same beliefs and had a lot of similar interests, however, we came from different cultures so we had our ups and downs but we managed to learn from each other and worked together as a couple as well. We prayed to maintain a God centered relationship until today and will always continue that… how did we know? God was always our guide.”
What advice would you give other Christian Mingle members, who are still looking for love?
“If you’re looking for true love, be honest, be straightforward from the beginning about what you want! Set standards and pray! Be patient always :-).”
