I joined Christian Mingle for the first time in September of 2012. I was only on the site for one month. My little business that I started was beginning to take off, so I did not renew my membership. I met a couple of nice folks, but nothing that was significant. My profile stayed up for the next few months and periodically, I would get a message that said someone was interested in my profile. I was not a member at this time, so I did not respond.
On December 29, 2012, I decided to join the site again. It was a cold, bright, sunny day in Columbus. Within five minutes, I was looking at an email from Guy, sent to me just a couple of days prior. I responded and in a matter of hours, we were talking on the phone. We even went to dinner that very night! We had another date on New Year’s Eve, and a third date to watch football on January 1st.
On February 14th, we got engaged on the beach at sunrise, on the Isle of Palms in South Carolina. On September 6, 2013, we got married!
Many friends and family members were concerned that we moved too fast. We did what felt was 100% right and natural. At the ages of 47 and 55, neither one of us had ever been in love like this. We waited our entire lives to find this kind of love. We know God had everything to do with our union. We both feel that God chose us for one another. We are so happy!
Our best advice when considering Christian Mingle is to “go with your gut.” If it feels right, it is. If something does not feel right or it feels forced, then take a step back and don’t push. I threw all of my old dating rules out the window the very day that Guy and I spoke for the first time, and my life changed completely, almost overnight.
