I joined Christian Mingle in November 2012. I had gotten out of a bad relationship a few months earlier. I was very skeptical of online dating sites, and wasn’t exactly sure what I would get. However, I was thinking I would just get on to meet some Christian friends that would be fun to hang out with, and if something more happened that would be a plus.
Within a few weeks I came across Brian’s profile. He was attractive and lived within reason of me, and his profile interested me. We started talking back and forth in November. Things seemed to be going so well that we decided to talk on the phone. It was so nice to hear a voice behind the sweet emails.
One day in December, I looked for an email and was disappointed when I didn’t hear from him because he had typically responded almost immediately. A few days later, I received an email from him telling me that he was in the hospital. We started to instant message each other while he was there, and I decided I would offer to come and see him at the hospital. That was the first day we met face-to-face. I remember that I was so nervous the entire drive to the hospital. I had spent a lot of time getting ready to make sure I was dressed nicely, as I wanted to make a good impression. The first time I saw him was indescribable. It went so well. Everything was going great and we had so much in common.
A few weeks before Christmas, he asked me out on a proper date. We have been seeing each other every week, which was nice because I hadn’t really had that in my last relationship. In May 2013, Brian took me to Thompson Dam. We went for a walk on the path in the woods, along the bank of the dam. We decided to sit on a bench and talk. For some odd reason, I thought something bad was going to happen. When he realized that I was nervous about what he was going to say, he got down on his knee and asked me to be his wife, and to grow old with him.
On July 27, 2013, we were married in a church by two pastors. We had a small, intimate wedding and a beautiful reception. I can’t imagine my life without Brian. He is everything I have ever asked for. God has blessed our relationship in so many ways. He’s always there for me, and loves me for me, faults and all. He makes me laugh all of the time, and knows how to make me smile when I am down. He’s the best thing that has happened to me. I love him with all my heart, and I am so thankful to God for giving me a man who loves Him as much as I do. Brian has taught me how to view myself in ways I never did before. God made me believe in love when I was ready to give up. Brian is amazing and I am so happy I get to spend my life with him.
