Edwina and Robert were married February 27th, 2016. Christian Mingle is delighted to have played a part in their love story, and wishes them every happiness for the future.
How did you meet? What was your first date like? Give us all the details!
Well, I had been a member of Christian Mingle for one month and Rob also had been a member for one month. I had purposely remained single for many many years…wallowing all those years in self pity from a failed relationship, depression, and life as a single mom.
With the kids being grown, I finally decided that it was time to love again. I chose Christian Mingle because I wanted someone who believed in God because God kept me sane all those years through prayer and supplication. I knew He would allow me to meet my soulmate…I just didn’t know when and how. You guys were not free so I took that as a plus.
Rob also had been hurting for many years and praying. Our children were hurting too. Well, Rob sent me a smile in Nov. 2014 and I noticed that he kept visiting my page every single day. I thought: “This guy is consistent, I like that”. And he was so polite. So we exchanged emails and eventually phone numbers. He was just so respectful.
We decided to finally meet for the first time at the Shedd Aquarium in downtown Chicago. Rob greeted me with a dozen red roses. We were so nervous at first but instantly just melted together, holding hands walking around laughing and enjoying the fish. You would think we had been dating at least a year and not that this was our first date! At the end he asked me if he could see me the following weekend…and well…
5 months later on July 4th, 2015 he proposed to me on bended knee in front of my whole family. We had a beautiful church wedding February 27th, 20 16 which instead of it being a thunderstorm that day as everyone thought it would be, it was 60 degrees outside that day, further proof how God has blessed our union and made it so that we’d finally find each other on Christian Mingle.
Oh and btw..our children love each other and love each one of us and they are so happy now..no more crying, only tears of joy. Thank you so much!
Describe the moment you knew it was true love!
I knew he truly loved me when I saw it in his eyes…the mirrors of his soul. I looked deep in his eyes one day when he told me he loved me and he didn’t blink, just stared deeply into mine and I knew he meant it, I felt it deep in my soul, from the top of my head all the way down to the tips of my toes and I had never felt that kind of love before except from my Grandmother (God rest her soul). I realized then that I loved him and that I ‘d rather hurt myself than ever see this man hurt
What advice would you give other Christian Mingle members?
Don’t ever give up and to be open-minded. The person you end up falling in love with may be someone you never thought you would. Look at actions and make sure they are respectful. Pray and have faith.
