I had a hard time meeting people with my busy schedule so my mom and co-worker recommended online dating. I didn’t think that it would be my thing and then one night, I was relaxing and the Lord put into my heart to search Christian dating websites. Christian Mingle was the first one that came up and I decided to join.
Meanwhile, Sam had gotten out of a relationship that had resulted from online dating and decided to give it another go. We both joined Christian Mingle within a day of one another. Neither one of our pictures were approved yet, but we could see each other’s profile. The site told us we were a 100% match!
I decided to smile at him on February 5, 2012 and send him a message. Sam didn’t have a subscription, and really went back and forth as to whether or not he should pay for it. Obviously, he decided to because he had to know what I wrote in my message to him. We exchanged messages on the site for a week or so before getting each other’s email addresses. One of the beautiful things about online dating is that you can go back to your emails and really see the connection and how you both fell for each other.
We both have very busy schedules, so it took a couple weeks before we could finally meet. On February 21, 2012, we met at a restaurant where we had dinner. Then we went to get ice cream and came back to the original restaurant’s parking lot to eat it. Not wanting the date to be over, we decided that we would go bowling. After that, we were inseparable. For about a year and a half, we learned more and more about each other and fell more and more in love.
On July 15, 2013, Sam took me back to where we had our first date. I thought nothing of it and I didn’t realize it was the same place until we pulled up. After dinner, we went and got ice cream again at the same place and came back to the parking lot. I kept telling him just park anywhere. We ate our ice cream and as he finished, he reached to the side and pulled out a box. Then, he said “From the first moment I met you I knew you were the one. This is the first place we met, first date, our first kiss and I wanted it to be another first. Will you marry me?” Of course I said “YES”. Sam is my best friend, my life partner and God’s match for me! We will get married June 28, 2014!
