Amber & Sage: ''We have been married for a year and a half and are more in love than ever!''

Amber and Sage were married December 10, 2016. Christian Mingle is delighted to have been a part of their love story, and wish them a future full of happiness.

How did you meet? What was your first date like? Give us all the details!

I had my profile created for about 2 years but I never could bring my self to subscribe. On July 5, 2016 I finally decided to activate my whole profile. well of course when I did I had quite a few old messages in there. One was from Sage (I forgot his user name), He looked like a charming, southern, country boy. He was just what I was looking for.

Paying no attention to the date that the message was sent I replied to his message. He later tells me that he sent that message 6 months prior to my response! He had a whole other relationship in that time period. Thankfully he responded. I do not remember much about our messaging on line but I do remember that he told me that he worked on his granddad’s 6,000 acre farm. I was impressed! Along with that he said that due to that it was hard for him to message on line all the time so then he ask for my phone number and I was glad to give it to him.

he told me he was gonna marry me before he even met me!

At the time I lived in Amarillo, TX and he lived in Amherst, TX (where we now live together) which is about an hour and a half away from each other. We texted for about a week. we talked about our faith and our values and what we wanted out of life. It was an instant connection! In fact he told me he was gonna marry me before he even met me! I remember telling him “what if you meet me and you don’t like me or you think I am ugly?” and he said ” I am not worried about that”.

He said he wanted to come to Amarillo and take me on a date. So I agreed and he came to Amarillo on July 9th. It was a date like I had never been on before. First we went to a gun show, then we got some lunch and then we went back to my house to go swimming.

I lived with my parents at the time but my parents were on their way back from being out of town. When we came back inside from swimming my parents kitchen was flooded, so I called my dad and he said it is probably the hot water heater. Sage said well I can probably fix that. so we went out to the hot water heater and sure enough water was going everywhere! Sage (not have ever met my dad) talked to my dad on the phone and told him that he had shut it of and ask him if he wanted him to go get a new part. … long story short… my husband fixed my parents hot water heater on our first date. some joke and say that he did it on purpose just to impress my dad.

So we talked for about an other week or so. Within that week he told me he loved me and that he was going to ask me to marry him. By the end of the week I was telling him I loved him too. He came back that next weekend and took me on a very fancy date and told me that I needed to talk to my parents about him proposing to me. I was in shock and I knew my parents would be worse. I did tell my parents that I loved him but I knew they would go crazy if I told them that he wanted to marry me. He came back later that next week and ask my dad for his blessing and to my surprise he agreed.

By the end of the week I was telling him I loved him too

Then that next weekend (July 30) I went to Amherst where they were having their annual celebration. I knew he was going to propose that day I just did not know when or where, so I had bought a pretty maxi dress. I told him that I did not care where he did it or who was around but that I wanted some one to take photos of it. So I gave him a number of one of my photographer friends and told him to call her. Oh I left out a small but important detail… he had my ring before he met me. “He went to Jerad’s” lol he told them that he was picking out a ring that his future wife was going to like. He did not know who she was yet but that she is going to love this ring. and sure enough I do!

So when I got to Amherst that day he told me that later in the day we were going to leave and go have a picknick just the two of us but then I heard him tell a friend that the picknick was 2 hours away. I was confused. We left the celebration at about 2 so that we could get ready and be to our destination by 5. when we finally got in the car to go to this picknick (btw if you want to do a proposal on a budget a picknick is the way to go) he was taking all these back country roads and asking me if I knew where we were. He always carried around the ring box in his pickup so while we were on our way there he pulls the ring box out of the console and opens it to where only he can see it, then he turns it around and it was empty!

The whole time I thought the ring was in there and it never was. I was so mad when he did that. He said “oh you thought I was gonna propose today?” I said “yes” he said “nope we are just going on a picknick!” I was sooo mad!! I almost started crying. then when we got to our destination I knew that wasn’t true. it was this pretty field with these beautiful willow trees in Canyon, TX (the town right next to Amarillo).

We got out and went to sit behind one of the willow trees. he had a blanket and sandwiches, oh and Mountain Dew! We drank Mountain Dew in yeti cups! If that is not redneck I don’t know what is! Oh and he took a Bluetooth Mspeaker. we ate our sandwiches and drank our Dew then he played a song that we both loved ( I cant remember what it was though) and we stood up to dance. We danced our way around the willow tree but the whole time we were dancing he was texting!

On the other side of the willow tree he dropped to one knee…

On the other side of the willow tree he dropped to one knee, pulled a gorgeous ring out of his pocket, said some words I don’t remember and ask me to marry him! When I turned around after saying yes one of my best friends and photographer came out of hiding with her camera. he had gotten her to capture the whole thing and we had to go to Canyon because he could not pay her to come to us. Then we took our engagement photos right there! We went back to Amherst to celebrate with his family and dance some more at the celebration. I knew I wanted a winter wedding and we knew that we did not want to wait a whole year to get married. so we decided that we would get married that December. We had dated for exactly 6 months when we got married! Now we have been married for a year and a half and are more in love than ever!

Describe the moment you knew it was true love!

He knew it was before I did. I did not understand how he could love me when he barely knew me. For me it was probably when he told me how much he valued the things I wanted and got out of life and when I saw how much he loved the Lord. That was probably on the fancy date that we went on.

What advice would you give other Christian Mingle members?

Obviously not everyone is going to meet someone as fast as I did. Even though it did go really fast once I finally jumped I put a lot of thought and prayer in to it before I jumped.
