How did you meet? What was your first date like?
Rob lived in San Diego, California, and I lived in San Antonio, Texas, at the time. We texted a lot, talked on the phone, and did some FaceTime. Three months later, Rob flew to San Antonio to meet me for the first time. He spent the weekend there, and I showed him around. Our conversations and connection continued to bloom.
Describe the moment you knew it was true love!
When we talked about our hopes for the relationship, we both agreed that the ultimate goal was marriage—and that we wanted to have children, if it’s God’s will. Then he said, “In about six months, I should know if I want to propose to you. Otherwise, we’ll have to part ways. I want to be respectful of your time.” And this was before we had even met in person. Shortly after, he started planning his first trip to see me. I couldn’t hold back my tears when I heard how serious and thoughtful he was. I had never met a man like him in my life.
What can you tell us about the proposal?
It was sweet and simple 🙂 just the two of us, at his place after dinner. He kept his promise and proposed to me six months after he said those words on the phone.
What can you tell us about the wedding?
We planned the wedding just three and a half months after the proposal. It was miraculous, unforgettable, and so special. My parents and family traveled all the way from Indonesia to celebrate with us. My close friends, his family, relatives, and friends were all there. There were so many happy tears.
What advice would you give other Christian Mingle members who are still looking for love?
First, believe that true love exists. If we don’t believe in it, we’ll never find it—I was once one of those who didn’t. Always put God first and surrender to His plans, because His plans are far greater than anything we could ever imagine. Don’t give up. Do the work, stay open, and put yourself out there.
