How did you meet? What was your first date like?
Wil lived in Phoenix, AZ and I lived in Orlando, FL. From the first night we IM’d through the site, we each felt an instant connection. He was a remarkable man!
For the next 10 days, we spent almost every minute of every day in the phone. We were both retired, so we had the time, plus we each wore a Bluetooth earpiece so we could talk and go about our daily routine at the same time. It was a little insane, but very exciting! We talked about everything! Our life stories, our dreams, desires, expectations, financials, even sex.
We left no topic untouched and were honest and open with each other about everything. Eventually, Wil invited me to fly out to Phoenix so we could meet. He had health issues and couldn’t travel. So, I agreed to go meet him. He was having surgery on his leg and I agreed to be there the day he was to be discharged.
I arrived at the airport in Phoenix in a very hot Wednesday, May 15th. I took a taxi to the hospital and that’s where we first met in person. We kissed, hugged, and knew we were perfect for each other. I was supposed to return to Orlando 3 weeks later, but I never did. We were married on the Autumnal Equinox – September 22, 2013.
Describe the moment you knew it was true love!
I believe we both knew it was true love from that first night we IM’d for several hours. We then emailed and texted for another couple of days, and then we spoke on the phone.
By the second day of phone conversations, we were openly talking about being in love and getting married. It wasn’t just one thing or conversation; it was a certain connection that we had that made us feel in tune with one another in a way we never imagined possible!
What advice would you give other Christian Mingle members?
The more details the better!” “The best advice (we agreed at the time) we could give other men and women on Christian Mingle was: keep it real, be yourself, say what you mean and mean what you say. Most importantly, DON’T play games! Be open and honest with the other person and be honest with yourself. If you don’t, you may just cheat yourself out of the best thing that could ever happen to you!
