I met Kean on Christian Mingle in May of 2013. I had been on the site for a couple of months and chatted with a few guys, but nothing serious had developed. Kean sent me a message and it was very nice. It was so nice that I responded back to him. He wasn’t in my “preferences” list, but obviously I was in his. We messaged each other back and forth for a while. Then, he asked me if I would like to go out on a date. We had our first date on May 19, 2013, at a local restaurant.
Kean lived in another town, and I was coming back from being out of town for the last two days. We both had to rush to get there on time. The date lasted about two hours. That date led to many more dates, and eventually to us meeting each other’s families.
On October 19th, five months after our first date, he popped the question at the same restaurant where we had our first date. He gave me his late mother’s engagement ring. It was a very beautiful ring!! After about a month of discussion, we set our wedding date for March 1, 2014. We had a very small ceremony with only family and a few close friends. After the ceremony, we invited a few friends to join us for a celebration at a local restaurant. We had a small honeymoon about an hour away. We will have the real honeymoon later this summer.
What makes this relationship so different is that Kean was divorced and I was a widow. My late husband of 14 years passed away in December 2012, from complications with cancer. I thought I would be married to him for the rest of my life, not have him pass away at 43 years old. I also thought I would not get married again anytime soon.
I joined Christian Mingle in March of 2013, to see what it was like. I never thought I would be dating again so soon. Everything about Christian Mingle surprised me. It weeded out the “bad” seeds, and I enjoyed chatting with different folks.
