ChristianMingle Singles Ministries
Founded in 1845 in Augusta, Georgia, the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) has grown to over 16 million members who worship in more than 42,000 churches in the United States. Southern Baptists sponsor about 5,000 home missionaries serving the United States, Canada, Guam and the Caribbean, as well as sponsoring more than 5,000 foreign missionaries in 153 nations of the world. A Southern Baptist believes that in the spirit of Christ, Christians should oppose racism, every form of greed, selfishness, and vice, and all forms of sexual immorality, including adultery, homosexuality, and pornography. The Southern Baptist Convention works to provide for the orphaned, the needy, the abused, the aged, the helpless, and the sick. Further, the SBC speaks on behalf of the unborn, and contends for the sanctity of all human life from conception to natural death. You become a Southern Baptist by uniting with a Southern Baptist church, one in friendly cooperation with the general Southern Baptist enterprise of reaching the world for Christ. Typically, church membership is a matter of accepting Jesus as your Savior and Lord and experiencing believer's baptism by immersion.

Members of the Baptist denomination have a belief in baptism of the believers as a symbol of their faith in Jesus Christ. They do not have a central organization so other beliefs can change from congregation to congregation. Some of the larger Baptist organizations include the Baptist World Alliance and the Southern Baptist Convention (http://www.sbc.net/). Calvary Chapel is a non-denominational church movement focused on the inerrancy of the Bible and the expository teaching from Genesis to Revelation. All Calvary Chapels are independent of one another and so do not have office headquarters or share all teachings across all groups but the Calvary Church groups were originally started as a fellowship of believers in the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Their main goal is to know Christ and to be conformed into His image by the power of the Holy Spirit.
