Developing as a Christian
What does unconditionally mean?
When you love and accept yourself, it is easier to love and accept others.
Searching for a mate requires that you love yourself unconditionally so that you can be ready when true love does actually come along. This will delegate a tremendous impact on the way you view marriage and your future mate.
Do not try to be someone else, just be you. Many singles pretend to be something that they are not and often come off like a phony. Be self-assured that you are fine, just the way you are.
If someone happens to reject you, think of it as their loss, not yours. Then, move forward to meeting the next prospect. Reject the idea of spending all your time concentrating on finding dates.
Focus on other activities, friendships, education, finances, hobbies, and other things that build towards a better future for you. The more confidence you show in yourself, others will take notice too.
What Type of Mate Should I Look For?
As Christians, we sometimes have preconceived notions about what type of mate we are looking for. We try desperately to see if the person we are dating fits our preconceived role. Stop trying to bargain shop for the right mate! When you are meeting others, relax and give yourself a chance to get to know them. Don't just concentrate on the physical features of an individual Use spiritual discernment. Think of what kind of person they are inside? Sure, they might not have the perfect nose or they may eat like a hog when you take them out to dinner! Even so, it may not be wise to attach a certain criteria to your dating mate. Instead, take the time to get to know your dating partner. Build a long-term relationship with them so that in the end, you will know what type of person you are dealing with. It is more important to find out if they are God-honoring individuals instead of whether they have good eating habits. In addition, by waiting you can decide what needs are important to you. Give yourself time to know what you are looking for in a mate, and what you are not.
How does God feel about relationships - dating?
Nobody knows more about love and relationship then God does. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16.
God Himself is a God of relationship. Realize that as a Christian believer, you are first married to Jesus Christ. Throughout the bible, God described His relationship and love for us, the church, like "a bridegroom rejoices over a bride." The church (us) is a beloved bride and Jesus is our bridegroom. He paid a price to redeem us from spiritual descent.
Singles, take notice of this teaching because is at the very center of what it means to be loved and cherished by someone. God is the one who started relationship and the one who ordained marriage. He knows what it takes to find true love.
An excellent book on the relationship between God and man is called "Celebrating Marriage" by T.D. Jakes. This book is not just for marriage people, but single Christians who are looking for mates. By reading this book, Christian singles can grasp the concept of finding a true Christian match online and what true love really means.
Am I truly a priest once I become a Christian?
As a true Christian believer, you are called to be a priest in your home and part of a holy nation. You are called to teach, be a covering for your mate and help others by being a priest for God.
Study the bible to form a deep relationship with God and accommodate the knowledge of His Word in your daily living. Educate yourself on finances and other books that help you to become financially stable. A woman likes to know she is with someone who is financially stable. Take the time to read and learn about the ways of women and how to please them. This will impress her, because everybody likes to be with someone who is full of wisdom and knowledge. Study to show yourself approved and worthy enough to be a good Christian mate.
Christian leaders are saying...
As a happily married woman I want all my friends to meet their life's companion. I have recommended Christian Mingle to all my single friends as a safe place to both connect with other people of faith but also to learn Christian principles of dating and marriage.
